Animation and the movie industry

In the business of animation technology is constantly improving. New things are coming out every all the time. The CGI and 3D industry is a strong one right now. Almost every movie that is coming out is in 3D and you’d be hard pressed to find a movie that doesn’t feature some form of CGI. CGI is the main form of animation used in animated movies right now and I don’t see that trend going away anytime soon. 2D animation has taken a backseat to CGI animation and it’s definitely going to stay that way. The movie and animation industry are always on the look out for new and fresh talent. This is an advantage given to anyone as a recent graduate. 3D technologies in movies have been greatly improving over the years many people who used to dislike it are even beginning to warm up to the idea. The 3D movie has been seen by many as a gimmick and while it certainly can be used in a gimmicky way that is not necessarily a reason to look at it negatively. Most movies can be looked at as a gimmick themselves but it’s something people accept and people enjoy movies. The 3D in movies makes them more enjoyable and even makes them almost feel interactive. CGI animated cartoons used to been seen as almost a novelty in the animation industry and they have now become the norm, 2D films could easily be seen as a novelty now. Some people say they dislike CGI cartoons and miss the good ole days of 2D animation but truly those people are simply looking through nostalgia goggles and miss the true beauty of CGI. Being a recent graduate going into the going animation industry it is important to remember and respect the idea of CGI animation because it is what movies are designed in now.
