Brave - Pixar's next hit.

Brave is Pixar’s next big hit, to be released in June this year. Brave will feature Pixar’s first Princess character that will also be Pixar’s first female lead. This film is going to be a much different film from Pixar’s previous releases. The character and set designs alone show how different this film will be from Pixar’s previous endeavors, as it has visually taken on a much different style while it is still cartoony it is much more realistic looking in color and design. The film is said to have a much “darker” story line, it takes place in Scotland and forces on the Princess Merida who will make an ill-fated wish presumably in an attempt to gain her freedom, if you base it off information gain from the theatrical trailer. This film is going to be a hit due to the talk already surrounding it; the teaser trailers and theatrical trailers have already been given rave reviews. Many people are very excited for this film as the lead is going to be a female, a strong, empowered female searching for nothing more than her freedom and it seems as though there will be no Prince set to save her which is a drastically different take on typical children’s Princess films. Pixar has released one scene from this film so far, the two minute scene shows men fighting for the Princess’s hand in marriage through an archery competition, at the end of the scene Princess Merida steps up and shoots for her own hand in an attempt to take control of her life. This scene is visually beautiful as Pixar scenes tend to be, during the slow motion scene of Merida shooting her arrow you see the care Pixar takes into make each scene as believable as possible. The arrow bends perfectly against the bow and moves swiftly through the air. The model and textures of the bow and arrow are absolutely flawless. The model and textures on the characters represent the same flawlessness, the movements in the scene are smooth and realistic, and the principles of animation are represented in perfect form. This film will no doubt be just as big a hit as all Pixar’s films if not bigger.
